Week 6 Matchups
Week 5 had everything. Blowouts, defensive struggle, back and forth battles. I had a better week, but 6-0 is always the goal and I have fallen short once again. Week 6 is full of good match ups, and “must-win” games for some teams. We haven’t reached the halfway point in the season yet but the playoff race for position is heating up.
Detroit (-3.5) @ Charlotte O/U 52.5
Both teams come in the game 4-1. They have reached their record different ways. Detroit come in this game after taking STL to the woodshed and they have the number 3 offense and defense. Charlotte has 2 come from behind victories and early MVP favourite Falco has really started to spread the ball around and not just depend on Dotson. This is game of the week, and I think Charlotte needs a win to establish themselves in the upper echelon, but they fall short, and Detroit continues to lead the western conference.
Prediction Detroit (-3.5)
Anchorage @ Huntington Beach (-9.5) O/U 50.5
Both teams are coming off tough losses and both teams felt to 3-2. Anchorage and HBV are looking to gain momentum. The Western conference is tough so they both understand how important this game is. Anchorage is in the same boat as Charlotte they need a win against a team like HBV to be seen as a real contender. I want to choose Anchorage, but HBV must be seeing red after being held to 7 points. I see HBV winning comfortably.
Prediction HBV (-9.5)
Tampa Bay @ Pittsburgh (-5.5) O/U 48.5
Both teams are 1-3 but Pitt 1-3 is different from TB 1-3. Pitt has played the toughest schedule and has not been able to win any of those big games. Tampa Bay was able to get their first win last week and is looking to stack another one. Momentum is a real thing in sports in TB is feeling good coming off their first win of the season while Pitt must be feeling disappointed after being in the conference championship game last season. I see these two teams on two different tiers. I see Pitt winning this one and trying to catch up in the playoff race.
Prediction Pittsburgh (-5.5)
New Jersey @ Tacoma (-13.5) O/U 54.5
Jersey has no direction at all, they have pieces but it’s not gelling. Tacoma may not have all the talent like the big dogs, but they compete. Carr has been the biggest surprise this season. Tacoma is playing in a tough conference so a playoff spot can be hard to join the party. I see Tacoma winning this game easily and improving to 3-3 on the season.
Prediction Tacoma (-13.5)
Dallas (-24.5) @ St Louis O/U 58.5
Oh Saint Louis, the last two games they have given up over 100 points and more points than 3 teams have given up all season and while Dallas offense is not firing on all cylinders, they are still potent and can put up points in a hurry. Dallas is looking to win two games in a row for the first time this season. They beat a tough Pitt team last week and want to get out the kinks before they play a tough week 7 matchup with Toronto.
Prediction Dallas (-24.5)
Toronto (-7.5) @ New York O/U 48.5
Toronto scored 10 points last week but somehow still came up with the win because of an amazing defensive performance. New York lost a tough matchup with Charlotte last week. Both teams are looking to greatly improve on last week. A Toronto win puts them in the driver seat for the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference. With a New York win, they make a race to the 1 seed possible. This game will be a back and forth match up, but I see Toronto pulling away in the 2nd half.
Prediction Toronto (-7.5)
Last week: 4-2
Season: 20-9
GOOD TEAMS WIN. GREAT TEAMS COVER!!
