Week 3 Matchups

by J Mack

Week 2 was all about home cooking, every home team except for Pittsburgh won

and covered. 3 games were close to O/U point total and 3 games wasn't close

at all. Another 5-1 weekend for me, Pitt was my only misstep this past week.

Week 3 is another week for teams to sit the foundation for the season.

-Tacoma @ St. Louis (-3.5) O/U 58.5

Tacoma had the misfortune of running into the defending champs HBV and

had no answers on both sides of the ball. STL was feeling good after week 1

but week 2 left a bitter taste in their mouth. Both teams need a win bad and

it's a division game so I expect a hard-fought game, but I see Tacoma

pulling out a nail biter.

Prediction - Tacoma (+3.5)

-Charlotte (-2.5) @ Pittsburgh O/U 51.5

Charlotte has played 2 games and has won both of those games by getting the

ball to Dotson as much as possible. Pitt has played the 2 top teams from the

eastern conference last season and has lost by double digits both games.

This is the 3rd division game for both teams and Pittsburgh needs this win,

they don't want to fall to 0-3. This will be Charlotte first real test and

while I have faith in Pitt as a team, I think Charlotte is playing at a high

level offensively and will overwhelm Pitt in the 4th quarter.

Prediction - Charlotte (-2.5)

-Anchorage (-9.5) @ Tampa Bay O/U 50.5

Anchorage is coming off a week 2 thrashing, they played well on both sides

of the ball and it's looking to further establish itself as a contender.

Tampa Bay lost big week 2 and must flush the whole game tape out the

window. Tampa Bay needs to start fast and gain some confidence. Anchorage

will need to start fast to get home crowd out of it early. I see Anchorage

winning by 2 scores.

Prediction - Anchorage (-9.5)

-Huntington Beach (-7.5) @ Dallas O/U 54.5

HBV has been firing on all cylinders and they look like they will be in

contention for another title. Dallas played Detroit tough but those

2 pick 6's really put them behind the 8 ball. Dallas must find a balance

to keep their offense aggressive but cautious with the ball. HBV has

check every box so far this season and beating Dallas will further establish

themselves as the bullies on the block. I see Dallas making this game tough

but their aggressive offense will turn the ball over at the wrong time.

Prediction - HBV (-7.5)

-New Jersey @ New York (-10.5) O/U 59

NJ has started the season 0-2 but it hasn't been their offense that has

let them down. New York righted the ship by beating Pitt last week. This

rivalry has been one sided lately. NY has won 3 straight and NJ will need

their defense to play at a higher for them to have a chance at winning this

game. I see NY and NJ having a high scoring affair, but NY defense will make

plays to help them pull this out.

Prediction - New Jersey (+10.5)

-Toronto @ Detroit Pick Em O/U 55

Detroit defense has been playing lights out this season, they haven't let

their opponents reach over the 20-point mark yet and got 2 turnovers for TDS

last week. Toronto offense has been playing lights out so far, but they face

a tough test this week. This game is a measuring stick game and while the

Toronto offense and Detroit defense get the headlines their counterparts

are no slouches. This game is too close to call but I'm a homer, so I see

Toronto winning this game late.

Prediction - Toronto wins.

GOOD TEAMS WIN. GREAT TEAMS COVER.
