Week 1 Winners and Losers

by J Mack

Winners

  • Hank Falco had big shows to filled in HBV’s offense and he put on a show in Week 1 vs STL. He had a 145 QB rating, 325 yds and 5 TDS.
  • Pittsburgh Roughnecks put up 55 points on a quality team. They pick up Action Jackson at the last hour and he helped stabilize the offense and Zeigler rush for 223 yds. The defense wasn’t slacking either. They held Ike and company to 17 points.
  • Michael Rury, play on the opposite side of DL of the year Chambers. He step up and had had 3 sacks. If Rury can keep up Chambers they will wreck game plans for the rest of the season
  • Mr. Carlton Banks put on a show and had only 4 catches but had 146 yds and 4 TDS. He made the most of his opportunities and threw in his hat early as the best WR in the game.

Losers

  • Jax and Detherage are the QBs of the last 4 United Bowl winners, and they proceeded to play possibly the worst games of their career. Jax and Deth both had a completion % under 50 and both offenses only put up 7 points.
  • STL Defense, last season they had the worst defense in league history and after a off season of adding pieces they gave up 42 right out the gate. Every team on the schedule is not HBV but it’s never a good when giving up 42 points right out the gate.
  • Last season darlings, the Royals went 12-2 and was 1 game away from the United Bowl had a rough week 1 outing. They didn’t have 200 yards of total offense and never pose a threat on either side of the ball.
  • Competition, not one game was close. The closet game was 18 points, and multiple games were over 30-point blowouts. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come, and we see more competitive football moving forward.
