VICTORY
Well, the 10th season of the beloved USFA has come to a close. None other should be proud than the Toronto Wraiths. They absolutely stunned the Charlotte Royals beating them in the Eastern Conference Finals with a final score of 23-13. Then, in a turn of events that no one expected, they ended up beating the championship favorites in the Huntington Beach Voyagers. 9-7. I think no one paid close enough attention to Toronto and in the end, the wraith always strikes its blade. Now, as we roll off into the offseason, let's look at some of the key members of this remarkable championship team.
Jax James | Quaterback |
This wouldn't be fair if we didn't decide to honor the man who was under center. Jax absolutely executed this season. He ended up throwing a hefty 24 passing touchdowns to only 6 passing interceptions. As a quarterback, it is very important to be able to make those gut-wrenching decisions and often times they have to be made not in comfort, but under pressure. James did everything and more expected of him so that the Wrauths would be in good shape to win a championship and I'm sure that Wraiths fans all over the world will never forget his name or his contributions.
Phoenix Jones | Leading Wide Reciever
Jones was a huge threat all year and he turned up the heat on defenses even hotter when it came time for the postseason, more specifically the Charlotte Royals and the game against them, torching a defense that other teams had feared for the whole year. Jones caught 72 overall passes and he gained a total of 1,060 yards, getting over the 1k mark for the year which for any wide receiver is a great achievement. He also leads the team in receiving touchdowns with a whopping 8. Great Job Jones!
Auston Wilson | Superstar RB and who I think is the team's MVP.
It is truly a tragedy that the running back position is not treasured as much as it should be. Auston Wilson completely demolished all that was in his way and didn't care who it was who tried to stop him from his ultimate job which is to ground and pound. I mean he rushed for 1,407 yards!!!! He also ran in for 10 touchdowns. In the playoffs, he rose to the occasion in multiple ways executing plays when Toronto really needed it the most. He also had over 500 yards receiving proving that the guy really can do it all and the guy you want to have the ball on the last play on the last down of the game.
Congrats to Toronto for really playing their hearts out and stunning the league!
