The Future of the Dotson Twins
The curious case of one of the top brother duos ever to be seen within the USFA. Charlotte Tight End Vic Dotson & St. Louis Archers SS/LB Preston Dotson are both approaching Free Agency the moment Season Eight ends. There are many questions to look at when it comes to these two future Hall of Famers and this will be the place where we explore such topics. Take a ride down memory lane and lets see if we can guess where these two legends will play in Season Nine and beyond.
We'll start with the slightly younger of the two twins, being Vic Dotson. Played with Charlotte for a majority of his career and since his days within the CSFA, he had stardom written all over him. If you want to have a glimpse of what he's about, look no further than his previous game where he was one catch shy of hitting double digits, over 120 receiving yards and a touchdown in the Royals' beatdown on the Snow Devils. He's already a holder of the first TE in USFA history of cracking 1K Receiving Yards in his first three seasons.
Now where he would go is an interesting question. Most would say that his career is in line with the current Charlotte QB Hank Falco & his running mate at WR named Kai Kohko. It opens up a deadly duo for the passing attack to pair with the always strong HB Doc Boone who they acquired via trade before Week Two. Its easy to say that staying where he is would be a amazing decision for his overall career.
That being said, there is one major change that has occurred within the last week that may have him thinking and that is the change of ownership. That isn't to say that the new leader on the block doesn't show a lot of potential but is it enough for Vic to warrant staying there? Is the stability cracking just a bit or is the new foundation something that will be worth the squeeze? My personal opinion is that he should stay put and keep his grinding towards the endzone. As you know, great things always happen when the ball goes his direction.

Now we move to the older twin being Vic's defensive counterpart Preston Dotson. A player with a lot of heart and a LOT of speed in his arsenal. He can also lay down the boom when needed and its shown in his greatest season where he amassed 20+ sacks. Multiple Safety of the Year awards and lets not forget his tendency to be on the team that wins the United Bowl. He currently is up to three championship rings as this article is being written and in position with the Archers to win #4.This is where it gets a little tricky. Preston is a true wild card and its plain to see that he wants to go wherever he's wanted. Has he had gripes with management? Rumors would say that to be true, despite being a part of St. Louis' two championship victories (the latest being in Season Seven), he still believes that the grass very much could be greener on the other side. It's not like he doesn't have talent around him either. Upstart Rookie LB John Smith has proven himself to be a great running mate on defense along with LB Rock Blazer, Gum Arabic at CB has shown flashes of greatness and Rookie CB Christopher Baker has been growing each snap as well.
From what has been told around Preston's camp, he's essentially open ears to whoever wants him to be a part of their team. That being said, the team he's currently on is still very much in the running for a resign. One thing is assured, an open checkbook can open his ears so I recommend that you put your cap space where your mouth is.
There's also talk of Preston potentially moving back to the LB position where he thrived in at his earlier stages of his career. From what has been heard around Preston's camp, he prefers to stay at SS but for the right price, he won't completely drop the possibility of making the move.

One last question would be whether or not there is a time and a team where the twins can dominate in the same uniform? It does ring a bell with Vic breaking through opposing defenses & Preston making the passing and running attacks of the opposing offense a living hell.
Talks have been between the two where having them both on the same team could be a great thing but what does that do salary cap wise? You'd have to think that two players ranging somewhere above $18,000,000 between both of them is going to command a lot of cap room so how can the team as a whole get more talent around them? I'm sure they can find a way to get it done.
Only time will tell..
